Israel and the Palestinians

by @ 7:40 am. Filed under Politics, Religion

So, the Palestinians are holding an Israeli soldier hostage.

(Let’s get this straight, a soldier, not a civilian.)

And they are asking that women and children be released from Israeli prisons.

(Again, to make sure we understand this we’re talking civilians.)

The israelis refuse to negotiate at all and are massing for war in Gaza to bring home this one soldier.

(Gaza, which is full of both Palestinians with guns and innocent civilians who will get killed from collateral damage.)

The israelis pulled out of Gaza, yet are still restricting trade and aid to flow in and out of the region so the Palestianians there don’t see they have much to lose.

Personally I am sick of seeing Israel flex it’s muscle day in and day out to keep the Palestinians under it’s thumb. Israel has gone beyond simply trying to stop the violence of the region and is now perpetuating it under the thin veil of “we will not negotiate with terrorists” IE. Hamas, a democratically elected government.

*sigh*

Terrorism

Anyone else getting annoyed that the U.S. still thinks of “The War on Terrorism” as an actual war? Europe seems to have come to the understanding that it’s an international police matter.

I must say i’m in complete agreement with the Europeans.

Determination

by @ 7:16 am. Filed under Business, Personal, Politics

Calvin Coolidge once said:

?Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan “press on” has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race?

But let’s think about this for a minute, name me anything at all in modern life where dogged determination alone will suffice. You must have some ability to adapt or learn, or you need to have the personality to get away with not having ability or persistence.

In the US at least we like to think “If you don’t have what you want, you’re not working hard enough”, but in reality hard work is almost never rewarded.

FINALLY!

by @ 2:29 pm. Filed under Personal

The last load of stuff from my house is moved into storage. Tho moving that trailer by hand and folding it up was hell. Hopefully I won’t have to do it in 110f+ when I move again.
