Religious liberty

by @ 9:44 am. Filed under Politics, Religion

Ok, so Abdul Rahman was facing the death penalty for converting from Islam to Christianity.

Western nations are having a fit over this,? bringing intense international pressure on President Hamid Karzai to have the charges dropped.

I seem to recall tho, a time when Catholics burned Protestants. How can westerners scream injustice when they came from that same injustice themselves?

We cannot change their lack of tolerence through force or pressure, they must change on their own. Forcing their hand is just going worsen their view of the west.

John Allen Muhammad, going on trial, again?

by @ 10:51 am. Filed under Crime & Justice, Politics

Muhammad is scheduled to go on trial May first for six murders in a wave of shootings that terrorized the Washington, D-C area. He’s already been convicted and sentenced to death for a sniper shooting in Virginia.

Maryland prosecutors say? a conviction? in the state would ensure his continued incarceration and would give relatives of the six people killed in Montgomery County their day in court.

Ok, correct me if i’m wrong but why in the hell are we putting someone already sentenced to the death penalty on trial again? What is “Continued Incarceration”, are we going to lock up the body after he’s dead?

As for the relatives getting their day in court that’s just petty, if they want to confront him in court they should have? to pay the extra court fees for the trial. It would be far cheaper to have the state send these people to therapy for the rest of their lives.

Zacarias Moussaoui, the man with no future.

by @ 10:33 am. Filed under Politics

Ok, this is outside the hype of the trial.

This man will never get out of the United States justice system alive.

If the current (first) jury gives him life in prison the government will appeal and/or put him up against the death penalty in another jurisdiction.

If he gets death from the current jury it will most likely get overturned on appeal and again the government will put him up against it again.

They will run him through the system until they can shove a needle in his arm.

I’m not making any? judgement on his guilt or innocence, i’m just commenting on the fact that this is being run from anger and the desire for revenge, not justice.

Georgia school and selective bans.

by @ 10:17 am. Filed under Politics

The American Civil Liberties Union filed the lawsuit on Monday in federal court against officials at White County High School in Cleveland, Georgia, for banning a gay-straight alliance group.

Administrators announced? plans shortly? after the group formed? to ban all non-curricular student clubs from campus during the school year.

However, the school still allowed a shooting club and a school dance team to meet on campus. And that violates federal law.

The Federal Equal Access Act states that schools have to treat all non-curricular clubs equally.

It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out.

I’m sorry Prok.

by @ 8:49 pm. Filed under Secondlife

I chose to put my answer here for reasons that will become clean in a moment. (This is a response to the post found Here.)

You see, I have to come clean, I used you Prok.

I realized that I needed advertising, and I didn’t want to pay for it.

So an idea came to mind, “Who can I get to put my name up in lights, for free?”.

That’s where you came in, and using a little bird you’ll recognize called Flavius Flop I dropped a hint in your ear about a post on the forums.

Which (true to form) you fell upon like a starving wolverine on a dead moose.

The results? Visitors to my store have quadrupled tonight alone! Hence my response is here to drag more people from your site over to mine.

Anyway thanks Prok, I knew you would come through for me! 🙂

(BTW, for anyone that cares my store is Here)

Trash troubles

by @ 6:21 pm. Filed under Personal

So, I live next to an apartment complex, that has had issues with their dumpsters.

The trash from the dumpster near me has blown into my yard with the prevailing wind from the west. Obviously I have not been pleased.

It was nice when they got a lock on the dumpster so it would stay closed.

Or so I thought, now they’re using my trashcans to dump their garbage. Altho today they tossed in a pizza box, that had their address and phone number on it.

So I called the apartment manager and mentioned the trash, she adamantly said it was the people across the street, tho her tune changed when I mentioned they were stupid enough to throw away something with their address and phone number on it. “Oh yeah, we’ll handle it, we’re sorry”.

Man I really gotta move, heh.

The weekend

by @ 3:04 pm. Filed under Personal

As usual it was way too short. We meant to get a pair of bikes this weekend but the bike store has horrible hours.

I’m figuring it’s the only way we’re really going to get out, walking/hiking isn’t happening.

Meat Pies

by @ 8:40 am. Filed under Personal

Yes, meat pies, i’m sick of thinking about the things.

Sarah and I made a big batch of the things and ended up with alot more of them than we expected to have (like 2 dozen).

They make really good “take to work food” tho. Ground pork & beef filling with frozen veggies, then bake in bread dough crust.

Enjoying my new Cellphone

by @ 10:31 pm. Filed under Personal

Picked up a pair of Motorola V360 phones from T-mobile a week ago for me and Sarah.

They’re pretty nice, bluetooth, camera, usb cable included. I want to edit the firmware to fully enable the browser, but none of the editors online work. Also there is no decent software for editing the phonebook. (Don’t buy the Motorola V4 software if you just want a phonebook editor, it stinks)

We get them from letstalk.com for 0$ per phone (discounts, not rebates) and a 50$ rebate per phone that’s probably impossible to get. Still a good deal to me.

Moviebeam, more like “Moneybeam”.

by @ 8:50 am. Filed under Business, Technology

So I heard the ads (As i’m sure most of you have too) about the new “Moviebeam” service. And I called for more information.

And I got the following info:

Personally I think it’s going to bankrupt out without having much impact on the market. They would be much better off taking a loss on the set-top boxes and charging more for the movies.

I’ve moved!

by @ 9:16 am. Filed under Server Admin

If you haven’t noticed i’ve moved my personal site to http://www.lasivian.com/ and made the main site my business portal.

Lots of things are going to be broken, cut me some slack, heh.

Lasivian's small corner of the web.
